Admission Procedures
1. Download the 2007-08 Application Package. (Contact the school if you prefer to have an application package sent by mail.)
2. Submit a completed application form, the health appraisal form, the non-refundable application fee (currently 20,000 yen), immunization records, and a current school transcript.
3. The student will have an initial interview with a teacher, and the parents will have an interview with a member/members of the TIS Board.
4. If the student is a fluent English speaker (as defined in the eligibility page), after the initial interview, the Board will decide whether or not the student should be admitted, taking into consideration the recommendation of the teacher. Notification of the decision will be given within three weeks of the initial interview.
5. If the student is not a fluent English speaker (as defined in the eligibility page), after the initial interview, and upon approval of the teacher, the student will attend TIS classes for three half-days as a trial immersion period. All three half-days must take place during the same week. After this trial immersion, the teacher will make a report and recommendation to the Board. The Board will then decide whether or not the student should be admitted.
Note: TIS is closed from mid-July to late August. No application processing can take place during this period.
