Statement Of Purpose

Name

The name of this organization shall be "Tsukuba International School," hereinafter referred to as "TIS." The said organization shall hold title to all properties of, govern, and operate TIS.

Purpose

For a number of years, the need for an English-based education for English-speaking students living in the northern Kanto area has been recognized. TIS was founded in 1992, by a group of concerned parents and individuals determined to meet this educational need in a multi-national, supportive environment.

Objectives

  • To provide an English-language based education
  • To provide a well-planned curriculum of an international nature designed to encourage higher thinking and sequential learning
  • To provide a sound academic environment
  • To provide a safe and caring atmosphere
  • To instill within students a sense of responsibility as citizens of the world

Non-Profit, Non-Sectarian, Non-Political Character

TIS shall be exclusively educational in character. It shall not be conducted or operated for its own profit, and no part of the net earnings of TIS shall contribute to the benefit of any individual.

TIS shall, in its aims and activities, be politically and religiously neutral. It shall recognize the diversity of nationalities that constitute the TIS community, and shall act to foster harmony by recognizing common concerns.
